SOLAR SERVICES

Our company has been developed stemming from a strong interest in alternative energy sources. We now provide solar power solutions including solar panels, heat pumps and wood boilers.

Clear Blue Skies provide a genuine ethos and interest in the environment which is crucial in this day and age.

Help us save the planet - let's harness solar energy for natural and efficient power!

With increasing costs in Gas and Oil and the impact of carbon emissions on the climate, alternate, affordable energy sources can reduce bills and help our environment.Today’s advanced solar systems are an efficient and low maintenance way to take advantage of free energy from the sun.

Solar Systems, using vacuum tube technology, lend themselves to work efficiently in the climate of the northern hemisphere. The system works all year round, even on cloudy days. Every house can benefit from one.

glass tube tubes

The UK receives 60% of solar energy compared to the equator and each square meter receives 900-1200kWh of heat. On a sunny day two square metres is sufficient to raise a 160 litre tank by 60degrees Celsius.

Annually an average house requires 3000kWh for heating hot water. Solar Panels can provide up to 70% of your annual hot water requirements and utilise a free energy source. This reduces carbon emissions by as much as 860kg pa.

Clean Blue Skies advanced vacuum tube solar water heating system works on a light absorption principle and its performance is not dependent on high temperatures although long periods of sunshine provide better efficiency. Sun radiation is collected in the heat absorption coated vacuum tubes. The heat is transferred from the tubes to the manifold where a small volume of water is heated. Once a differential in temperature between the cylinder and the manifold is reached a pump is switched on to transfer the hot water to the cylinder. Even in winter months or cloudy days the panel is able to supply heat to the cylinder.

Solar panels can also be designed for supplementing the heating for swimming pools.

Solar Panel

The solar panel works on the vacuum tube design for optimum performance all year.

Hot water cylinder

The collection of the energy from the solar panel is stored in the hot water cylinder. The cylinder is designed for your home requirements. Fitting of a thermostatic valve to prevent injury due to scalding water are always considered. An under floor heating coil or shower coils can be added during manufacture. The cylinder is covered with 50mm of insulation as standard which can be increased to 75mm.

Solar Panel Controller

The solar panel controller works independently of the boiler timer controller. The SP controller continuously monitors the temperature in the solar panel and the cylinder. Once there is a differential in temperature between the SP and cylinder a pump is activated to circulate the hot water to the cylinder.

Water Pump

A low maintenance water pump is fitted to the closed loop system for transferring the heat from the solar panel to the cylinder.

System’s are individually designed to ensure the best performance for each property and can incorporate the existing boiler, wood stove or mains pressure hot water requirements.

Installation Procedure

Following a full technical survey the installation is carried out in four stages over 2 or 3 days.

heat pipe The hot water cylinder is fitted first and the existing heating system is checked to see that it is working as previously installed. Controller, pipe work and pump are prepared for connection to the solar panel. As the tubes are added to the manifold the system will start to operate. The solar panel is fitted to the roof, which causes little disruption, and the panel is connected to the pipe work installed at the previous step.

The system is filled with antifreeze and tested for leaks.  Tubes are added to the solar panel and the controller is adjusted for optimum performance and the installation is tested.Lastly the Technician will leave your home clean and tidy.A one year material and labour warranty is provided. An extended warranty can be provided to cover following years.
